Welcome and the Title Belongs to Me

Welcome to my blog, Money Under My Mattress. There are a lot of blogs on the internet with this title and guess what, most of them belong to me so this blog is authentic. I started blogging many years ago and did not keep up with them so my blogs were deleted. Also because Google felt it was a spam magnet. This is exactly what happens when you don't maintain your blogs. Geeze, I must have written a post every month or maybe even two months, what a crying shame. Anyway I'm giving blogging another shot and decided to keep the same title because it works for me. This title represents everything I am trying to do on the internet, MAKE SOME EXTRA CASH. You know the kind of cash everyone used to stash under their mattress before banks were invented (smile).

Since we are talking about blogging, I just want to give you some advice. I don't care how much anyone loves writing, blogging is hard WORK in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I really love writing but it's easy to understand why there are so many blogs out there with links that have long expired or have a "this domain name for sale" sign on them. Those bloggers threw in the towel just like I did years ago.Writing your thoughts down on internet paper is the easy part for most bloggers. The tricky part is MAINTAINING the content and layout of the blog. Let me give you an example so you understand. One day I removed a small referral banner that was for a popular website called Mylot. I wanted to make my own banner that matched my blog layout. No hurry on getting this banner done, more important things to work on. Well after deleting this banner I had forgotten that the banner was also mentioned in one of my earlier blog posts and when did I find this out? After a potential referral read my post and asked me where the banner was. Yikes! Unfortunately they signed up for Mylot anyway without my referral name, but he thanked me for the great review. So of course a decision had to be made. Either get my new Mylot banner up fast or change the post. You see my point now?

This is just one of many examples of the trouble of maintaining a blog. When you start spending a great deal of time picking layouts, photos, grammar, updating links, replying to every comment, promoting your blog, getting neat blog gadgets, advertising affiliate programs and the list goes on, BLOGGING then becomes a full time job and for most bloggers with very little or no pay at all. Blogging does not have to overwhelm you and seem like a chore. Write when you feel inspired. You can always publish the posts later. Rushing or forced blogging jeopardizes the content and originality. Keep things simple, work smarter not harder and this will cut down on the maintenance side of blogging. I hope you find this advice helpful and continue blogging.

My name is Sergeantrom and my ultimate goal in life is to work from home. For now, I am earning lots of pocket change, reading and taking plenty of notes about my adventures online. This blog is my way of sharing all the many different ways of earning extra cash on the internet. Oh yeah and the plane in the background, that photo represents the Sky is the Limit when it comes to Money Under My (and hopefully your) Mattress. Good luck everyone.
